Jaguar Announces New F-Type

Jaguar Announces New F-Type

Jaguar confirmed yesterday on the 4th of April that they will be introducing a new model to their current line-up which consists of the XF, XJ and XK. The new model will be called the F-Type.

The new F-Type is based on the concept C-X16 which was first revealed at the Frankfurt motor show last year.

Speaking at the New York auto show Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars, confirmed: “We showed the C-X16 concept in September 2011, and the reaction to it has been so positive that we’ve accelerated our development of an all-new Jaguar sports car.”

The production version of the car will be revealed later in 2012. Full F-Type technical and range details will also be announced later in 2012 with planned sales starting in mid 2013.

The F-TYPE will launch as a convertible, and a strict two-seater with the focus uncompromisingly on delivering driver reward. A range of petrol engines will be available. We hope a coupe version is developed as well. According to autoblog, the roof will use a standard soft top and there are no plans for a retractable hardtop version.

Indications are that the Jaguar C-X16 which was presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show last year might just make it into production. If approved the C-X16 would be introduced in late 2014, and would be priced between the Porsche Cayman R and the base 911 Carrera.

This is according to Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars, who was interviewed by  Inside Line.

According to Adrian Hallmark a four month market study in respect of the car’s market positioning was recently completed and the results were highly encouraging.

This can easily be understood especially since the C-X16 was earlier this year voted,  by the British readers of What Car? Magazine as the vehicle they would most like to see launched in 2012.
