Suzuki Swift Sales Pass the Three Million Mark

Suzuki Swift Sales Pass the Three Million Mark

When the Suzuki Motor Corporation launched the Suzuki Swift – its first global strategic model – in Japan in late 2004, it brought a blend of eye-catching good looks, Japanese quality and European inspired driving dynamics to the compact car segment.

Those attributes are still as strong today and Suzuki is pleased to announce that global sales of the Suzuki Swift have now passed the three million mark – exactly two years since the celebration of two million units.

The Suzuki Swift is global in outlook and production – it was first built in Japan, followed by Hungary, China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia and more recently production began in Thailand; vehicles sold in Europe are built at Suzuki’s established Magyar plant in Hungary.

Globally, around 13 per cent of Swift sales are in Japan, 45 per cent in India and 23 per cent in Europe with the remainder from other world markets; Swift is driven in 125 Countries and regions of the world and has won 67 awards in 26 Countries.

The Suzuki Swift is available in three and five door body styles and has a Five star Euro NCAP rating and scored 94 points for Adult occupancy protection at launch in 2010 – the highest of vehicles tested at the time.

The distinctive styling and spacious interior are complemented by a comprehensive specification. As standard equipment, all models feature seven airbags, ESP, radio/CD player with USB port, remote central locking and immobiliser, electric front windows, electric and heated door mirrors and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

Suzuki SX4 Receives a Makeover

Suzuki SX4 Receives a Makeover

The Suzuki SX4 hatchback has received a series of updates aimed at enhancing the exterior and interior cosmetic appeal of the vehicle.

The most notable exterior change to the Suzuki SX4 is the front grille, which features pronounced horizontal bars and a prominent Suzuki logo. The new grille is accompanied by a profiled bonnet design, and a bolder, more sculpted front bumper.

Other exterior enhancements include the new alloy wheel design.

The interior enhancements to the Suzuki SX4 include the use of more attractive fabric for the seat upholstery and door panel inserts, as well as black chrome garnish for the dashboard.

The instrument cluster uses effective light-emitting diode (LED) technology, complemented by bold and elegant instrument dials. An information display incorporating a digital clock, an outside temperature display, a fuel consumption gauge, and a travel range indicator is standard, while the CVT versions boast position indicator.

The drivetrain options of the current Suzuki SX4 remain unchanged, with a choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions making the SX4 a unique contender in its segment.

Both the front-wheel drive and AWD Suzuki SX4 are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Maximum power output comes to 112 kW at 6 200 rpm, while the torque peak of 190 Nm is achieved at 4 000 rpm. This 2.0 litre engine is mated to six-speed manual transmission or a CVT transmission with six ‘virtual’ ratios that can be shifted sequentially in manual mode.

Gear changes on models fitted with the CVT can be achieved via the conventionally positioned gear lever, but also by using the convenient shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel.

In fuel efficiency terms, the appetite of the front-wheel drive Suzuki SX4 2.0 Manual stands at 7,3 litres/100 km, while the CVT-equipped model sips an impressive 7,6 litres/100 km.

The newly updated SX4 models are priced as follows:
SX4 2.0 Manual – R237 900
SX4 2.0 CVT – R252 900
SX4 2.0 Manual AWD – R257 900
