New Audi RS3 Reported To Debut In 2014

New Audi RS3 Reported To Debut In 2014

According to Auto Express, the Audi A3 model range is set to grow in 2014 with the introduction of the new Audi RS3 and the Audi A3 e-tron.

The Audi RS3 will be powered by a five-cylinder turbocharged engine, and will features Audi’s four-wheel drive quattro system. Considering that the previous generation Audi RS3 was also powered by a five-cylinder turbocharged engine that developed 250kW (450Nm)  and propelled it from 0 – 100km/h in 4.6 seconds. The new powerplant is sure to impress especially considering that the new Audi S3 pictured above powered by 2.0 litre TFSI engine churns out 221kW and improvement of 26kW over the previous Audi S3.

With the lower weight of the new Audi A3, largely helped by the introduction of the new MQB platform, the new Audi RS3 will just have to perform superbly.

The Audi A3 plug-in hybrid e-tron variant will also be introduced around the same time as the Audi RS3. The Audi A3 plug-in hybrid e-tron will most likely be similar to the already featured Audi A3 e-tron concept introduced at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show. See the video of the Audi A3 e-tron below.

Audi Crosslane Coupé Concept [with Video]

Audi Crosslane Coupé Concept [with Video]

The Audi Crosslane Coupé Concept 2+2 seater plug-in hybrid premiered at the 2012 Paris Motor Show provides a glimpse to the design language of future Audi Q models.

The front of the Audi Crosslane Coupé is dominated by a single-frame grille, which is subdivided into several segments by struts and the large air intakes on the bumper. The front headlights are trapezoidal in shape and use Audi Matrix LED headlight technology.

The side profile of the car is dominated by horizontal edges above the wheels, and the doors which extend rather low due to the space frame design which allows very low sills.

At the rear the main highlights are, the tail lights divided into two segments by the boot lid seam, and the lower bumper which incorporates an aluminium diffuser.

Another feature of the Audi Crosslane Coupé is the removable roof which can be removed and fitted over the load area to allow for open top driving.

On the interior passengers are met by electrically adjustable sport seats with integrated head restraints, and a low dashboard which is biased towards the driver. The digital instrument cluster displays pertinent information to the driver including the drive system operating status and the aircon controls integrate miniature displays on the dials.

From an infotainment perspective the Audi Crosslane Coupé also features the Audi Connect system which is Audi’s new online service allowing passengers to keep connected to the web and the varying social platforms.

The centre console integrates a large selector lever, which is electrically extended when the car is started; it is used to control the hybrid drive.

The chassis/spaceframe is constructed from a mix of aluminium, carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP). The concept car has an unladen weight of about 1,390 kg, including the large lithium-ion battery.

The plug-in hybrid drive of the Audi Crosslane Coupé, comprises a combustion engine, two electric motors and a single-stage transmission; its system power is 130kW. The Audi Crosslane Coupé sprints from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds, and in pure electric mode takes 9.8 seconds. The car’s top speed is 182km/h. It offers the potential for up to 256.8mpg and emits 26 g/km of CO2. The lithium-ion battery has an output of 17.4 kWh, sufficient for an operating range of around 85km in the electric mode.

More Grunt For 2013 Audi S3 [Including Video]

More Grunt For 2013 Audi S3 [Including Video]

The 2013 Audi S3, the third generation of the Audi S3, comes equipped with a 2.0 litre TFSI engine churning out 221kW of power, an improvement of 26kW over the outgoing model, and 380Nm of torque. The new Audi S3 is set for launch globally in 2013.

The Audi S3 features the S-specific single-frame grille at the front, with prominent large air inlets and additional implied air openings found toward the wheels.

From the side the aluminium look exterior mirrors, the pronounced side sills and the large functional rear spoiler catch the eye. At the rear the bumper has also been redesigned, the platinum grey diffuser houses the exhaust system’s four oval tailpipes, which sport chrome tips.

Highlights among the 14 colours available for the Audi S3 are the exclusive crystal-effect finishes Panther Black and Estoril Blue.

The new 4 cylinder 2.0litre TFSI engine on the Audi S3, develops its rated power of 221kW at 5500rpm and delivers a constant torque of 380Nm between 1800 and 5500rpm, with the engine redlining at 6800rpm.

The 2.0litre TFSI engine propels the Audi S3 from standstill to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds when equipped with the S tronic gearbox and 5.4 seconds with the manual transmission. Fuel consumption with the S tronic transmission is rated at 6.9l/100km and CO2 emissions of 159g/km.

A sporty sound is enhanced by the use of an electromechanical sound actuator at the . This sound is further enhanced by the use of a sound flap housed in the exhaust system that opens at certain engine speed ranges to give the S3 a sportily sonorous sound.

The new Audi S3 comes standard with a manual six-speed transmission and an optional six-speed S tronic transmission with a tall sixth gear. The lower gears are short in the interest of dynamics, as is also the case with the manual transmission. A quattro permanent all-wheel drive is an integral component of the powertrain.

Performance enhancements to the ride and handling have been achieved through a number of things some of which are; a weight reduction of components, the weight distribution of the axle loads, use of front and rear stabilizer bars, as well as the use of progressive steering.

With progressive steering, the steering rack is geared in such a way that the ratio varies. It is somewhat more indirect around the centre and very direct when steered sharply and decreasing its output as speed increases.

The sport suspension on the Audis S3 lowers the body by 25 millimetres (0.98 in) compared with the A3.

The new Audi S3 rolls on 7.5 J x 18 alloy wheels with 225/40-series tires. The wheels sport an S-specific design with five parallel spokes.

Audi drive select comes standard in the new Audi S3. It incorporates the characteristics of the electronic accelerator, the boost of the progressive steering and the shift points of the optional S tronic. The driver determines with the push of a button whether these systems operate in comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency or individual mode. In individual mode (available with the MMI radio or above), drivers can compose their own preferred profile within certain limits.

2013 Audi A3 Sportback Breaks Cover – Video Included

Audi release information on its forthcoming sporty and functional Audi A3 Sportback yesterday and if you liked the 3 door version of the Audi A3 you are sure to like the A3 Sportback.

Visually the Audi A3 Sportback follows the form of the Audi A3 3 door variant with the major noticeable change being the longer side profile and the rear of the car. The interior also follow similar design cues as its smaller Audi A3 3 door. Audi has also done its best to ensure that the A3 Sportback chassis is balanced, harmonious and sporty.

The wheelbase of the Audi A3 Sportback is 2636mm, an increase of 58mm over the outgoing model, and 35mm longer when compared to the 2013 Audi A3 3 door.

The side profile is dominated by the shorter overhang at the front, tautly curved surfaces, the large defined wheel wells, the relatively narrow sharply sloping C pillars, the understated roof spoiler, and the door mounted exterior mirrors.

Audi will offer the A3 Sportback in 13 12 colours and will also offer the S line sport package or S line exterior package as an option.

The Audi A3 Sportback will offer ample rear seat space and easy access for three adults, largely due to the increased wheelbase (58 millimetres), and the several millimetres more head and leg room compared to the outgoing model.

The luggage compartment offers 380 liters of space in the basic configuration, with the capacity expanding to1220 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded down.

The engines on offer on the Audi A3 will range from the 1.2litre 77kW TFSI engine to the 2.0litre 135kW TDI. However Audi will offer the A3 Sportback initially with a choice of three five engines, and increase the engine line-up over time. The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron with a powerful plug-in hybrid drive is also set for introduction in 2014.

All engines in the new Audi A3 Sportback are paired with a manual six-speed transmission. An S tronic transmission will also be available as an option with all engines.

Quattro permanent all-wheel drive featuring a newly developed multi-plate clutch will also be available as an option for the 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TDI.

The new Audi A3 Sportback will begin appearing in German dealerships in February 2013.
