Trendy Honda Brio Set To Spice Up Entry Level Market

Honda South Africa will be introducing the Honda Brio into the budget hatchback car segment, following on the heels of a number of vehicle manufacturers. The pricing for the new Honda Brio has not yet been finalised but we do know that the Brio will go on sale in early December.

This is a market segment that has grown from strength to strength over the last few years, especially in the US market which has long shunned small vehicles.

The launch of the Honda Brio will herald Honda’s first entry to this growing and increasingly important market segment, allowing budget-conscious buyers the opportunity to experience Honda’s product quality in a new and affordable package. The Honda Brio will be competing against the likes of the Toyota Aygo which retails from R111900, the Kia Picanto which retails from RR99995,  the Hyundai i10 which retails from R102900, the Peugeot 107 which retails from R118600, and the Citroen C1 which retails from R99900.

“The Brio is poised to become a trend-setter in the entry-level segment, and will allow Honda to introduce the Honda motoring experience to a wider audience for the first time. The Brio’s combination of styling, affordability, quality – and, above all, motoring fun – will offer young first-time buyers an attractive budget motoring option,” says Yoshiaki Nakamura, managing director of Honda Motor Southern Africa.

The Honda Brio is powered by a four-cylinder 1,2-litre i-VTEC engine, with a power delivery of 66kW and 109Nm of torque. The Honda Brio will be offered with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes.
