The VW Scirocco GTS showcased at the 2012 Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig earlier this year, and targeted mainly at the European and Chinese market is now on sale. The VW Scirocco GTS package will be available on a range of VW Scirocco’s ranging from the 1.4l TSI to the 2.0l TDI. The pricing in Germany starts from €28,100, and rises to €33,525, depending on engine choices and optional extras.
So, yes thus far it doesn’t look like VW is planning to introduce this model anywhere outside of Europe and China. So we can only hope that by some miracle VW South Africa treats us to a gift in the form of the Scirocco GTS. At least that way it won’t only be the Scirocco R drivers out there who will have really sporty looking Scirocco’s. Well, unless your willing on going aftermarket.
The most striking exterior highlights of the VW Scirocco GTS are the specially designed sports car stripes which stretch from the bonnet to the rear tailgate. Other features of the VW Scirocco GTS include the red callipers for the 2.0 TSI, custom designed front and rear bumpers, exposed side sills, body-coloured side trim, wing mirrors colour coordinated with the stripes, burnished 18-inch ‘Thunder’ alloy wheels (striking spoked rims) with black trim, a sporty diffuser and the rear tailgate spoiler from the Scirocco R, plus GTS badges on the front wings finish off the exterior design details to perfection. As an alternative option, the Scirocco GTS can also be ordered with black 19-inch ‘Lugano’ alloys.
The interior also gets some attention with the dominant colours being black and red. The black leather seats are contrasted by red double lap seam stitching, with the red stitching spilling over to the gear lever sleeve, the hand brake lever, the sports steering wheel, the safety belts and the central and door armrests. Other GTS logo’s also embellish other bits of the interior of the car such as on the seats and the steering wheel.
