The 2013 Porsche Boxter (981) was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last week.
The new Porsche Boxter weighs less than the previous generation and rides on a longer wheelbase and a wider track. This along with the new electromechanical power steering system is claimed to significantly enhance the cars driving dynamics.
The new Porsche Boxter models are powered by flat-six engines with direct fuel injection. The base Boxter engine delivers 195 kW from a 2.7 liter displacement at 6700 rpm with a maximum torque of 280 Nm and the 3.4-liter engine of the Boxster S delivers 232 kW at 6700 rpm with a maximum torque of 360Nm.
Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option.
With the PDK option, the Boxster sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds whilst the Boxster S in 5 seconds.
The base price for the Boxter in South Africa is R589000 whilst the Boxter S retails for R699000
